Wang Zizhou, whose original family home was Luannan County, Gansu Province, was born in Baotou, Inner Mongolia in April, 1957. He went to Inner Mongolia University jointly ran specialized training class of Library Science in 1978, and worked in libraries since graduation. In 1985 and 1996 he studied in School of Library and Information Science, and received a M.A. and a Ph. D. After his graduation in 1999 he began to teach in Library and Information Science School, Wuhan University. He joined faculty of Department of Information Management, Peking University in 2006 and is currently a professor and Doctor tutor on library science. His research covers Theoretical Study of Library Science, Book History and Library History and Library Science History. His main works includes Reading Life about Chen Yinke(1997), General History of Chinese Collections(2001, wrote the part of “Sui,Tang and the Five Dynasties”), Du Dingyou and Chinese Library Science(2002), Library Science Foundation Handbook(2003) and What is Library Science(2008).
