Scholarship Program Impact
Evergreen Education Foundation has awarded scholarships to rural students who have outstanding academic performance and financial need. Students are mentored by our volunteers and staff to give them guidance and moral support. The scholarships and the mentoring impacted not only the students themselves, but in many cases, their whole families. Evergreen Scholarship-winning students also serve as role models for their fellow students or village peers. The volunteer experience in school library also instills the service spirit in these students. Many students volunteered in our library projects, international conferences and workshops since their college years, with a few becoming core members of our team after years of volunteering. Both students and mentors view the experience with our scholarship program as a fruitful journey.
"Owing to years of help and care from Evergreen, I was able to complete my study smoothly, live a bright life and grow up without pressure. Also I was able to explore the values and goal of life in more depth."
- 2008 School of Economics, Xiamen University, Tianzhu No. 1 High School Graduate, Jun Zheng
"I started in the program some eight years ago, no formal training just a passion for the value of education, for those in need of a better life. Now some eight years later four of my students are graduating from colleges and all are sending me E- mails from college in English! … I highly recommend the program for you may find out that you receive more than you give...I did. "
