Special Announcement: EEF Welcomes Oral History Expert Nancy MacKay to Our Advisory Board!

We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our Advisory Board, Ms. Nancy MacKay, MLIS. With a rich background in oral history, librarianship, and education, Nancy brings a wealth of expertise to the Evergreen Education Foundation, especially in her new role leading our Family History Project.

Nancy is a California-based oral historian, author, and educator who has spent over two decades shaping the landscape of oral history. As an academic librarian, she founded and managed the Oakland Living History Program at Mills College (now Northeastern University), where she served for 22 years. A respected author, Nancy penned Curating Oral Histories: From Interview to Archive, now in its 2nd edition, and co-authored the Community Oral History Toolkit. Her work in archiving oral history and metadata protocols has helped elevate the field, and her contributions continue to make a lasting impact. In addition to her publishing achievements, Nancy has taught oral history and library science at the San Jose State University School of Information, shaping the next generation of oral historians and librarians. Her professional interests include archiving oral history, developing metadata protocols, and advancing community oral history projects—passions she brings to her work with Evergreen.

Outside of her professional work, Nancy is an avid researcher of her own family history, and we are excited to see how her personal passion will inspire and enrich our Family History Project.

We look forward to the incredible contributions Nancy will make to the Evergreen Education Foundation, and we are grateful to have her on board! Welcome, Nancy!
