Exciting News: DiscoverE’s Future City Competition Finals Invitation!

Evergreen Education Foundation has funded 3 high schools and provided mentorship on the Future City High School Challenge. We are thrilled to announce that one of our schools, Ningdu Technician College, has made significant strides in their Future City projects! Their hard work, creativity, and dedication have paid off, leading to an incredible opportunity: the Future City High School Finals!

The Future City Competition is a project-based engineering program that challenges high school students to design and build futuristic cities. Hosted by DiscoverE, the competition engages over 65000 students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) by encouraging them to develop innovative solutions for urban challenges. Participants work in teams under the guidance of a teacher-mentor to create a detailed city model, write an essay outlining their vision, and present their ideas through live or recorded presentations.

Each year, the competition follows a specific theme, focusing on real-world issues such as sustainability, transportation, or climate resilience. The process enhances students’ problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills while fostering an understanding of urban planning and engineering principles.

Finalists from regional competitions are invited to the Future City High School Finals, typically held in Washington, D.C., where teams showcase their projects to a panel of expert judges, including engineers, city planners, and educators. The event culminates in an awards ceremony recognizing the most innovative and well-executed designs. The Future City Competition not only inspires young minds to think critically about the future of urban development but also provides a platform for creativity, leadership, and real-world STEM application.

Event Details:

Location: Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.

Our finalists, including M. Chen, J. Li, Y. Lai, and B. Zeng, will represent their schools and showcase their visionary urban designs at this prestigious event. The competition will feature team presentations, city model showcases, and an exciting awards ceremony!

A huge congratulations to all the students, teachers, and mentors who have worked tirelessly to make this possible! While it is unfortunate that they cannot attend in person, we are confident that their recorded presentation will still make a strong impact at the Future City Finals.

Stay tuned for updates, and best of luck to our teams!
